This Bread recipe I found has become my absolute favorite one to use. I have spent years trying different recipes and never liked any of them. (I am quite a bread snob.) This one is so easy and you dont even need any fancy equipment to make it! You just need a few simple ingredients and a bowl. Lets get started.
Recipe
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
Ingredients
- 2 Tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 TBS oil( your choice)
- 2 & 1/3 cup of flour ( your choice)
- 2 Tsp salt
- 1 Tbs of sugar
Start by getting your warm water and mixing your sugar and yeast into it, and set it aside.
In a mixing bowl add your flour, oil, and salt. ( I like to get in there with my hands and mix it all together until it clumps when you squeeze it.) Then you will add the wet ingredients into the mixing bowl with your flour. Use a fork to stir around until it becomes doughy. Then with your hands mix it some more until it becomes a less sticky bread dough.
After you have your dough mixed youll form it into a ball and cover with oil. set it back into the mixing bowl and cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap. set it in a warm place to rise for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
Once your dough has risen youll want to spread a little oil onto your counter top and dump your dough onto it. knead your dough until it starts to feel firm then with a rolling pin roll it out until it is about 12 inches long and about 8 inches wide. Then you will roll it up and pinch the ends to close it. Place it in your bread pan or onto a baking sheet. Place it in a warm area again and let rise for another hour or until doubled in size. At this time you can choose to cut designs in it like I do ( I cut chicken feet into mine.) or leave it how it is. ( You can brush it with egg wash to get that shine if you would like. I do not.)
Bake for about 20 -25 minutes or until golden brown. Take it out of the oven and let it cool for about 20 minutes before you slice it.
This bread recipe is great for sandwich bread, but it also makes a great French bread. I even use it for garlic bread, and you can use this same recipe for dinner rolls.
